Ewa Podleś, Contralto YouTuber coloraturafan has created a fantastic montage of performances by the incomparable Polish Dramatic Coloratura Contralto Ewa Podleś.
With excerpts from opera by Rossini, Verdi, and Gluck, the coloraturafan's video is an excellent resource for anybody wanting to learn more about the Dramatic Coloratura Contralto voice, with respect to registration, timbre, and flexibility.
Ewa Podleś will be performing at the Teatro Real, Madrid, as La Marquise de Berkenfield in Donizetti's La Fille du Régiment in September 2014. I saw her perform this role at the Royal Opera House earlier this year, and to say she was amazing would be an understatement. In her first aria, she sang through three octaves, from A#2 to A#5!
She will also perform the role of Erda in Wagner's Siegfried at the Teatro Liceo in Barcelona in March 2015 - definitely something worth seeing!
