Ala Coroid was born in Chisinau (Kishinev) where she began studying piano, voice and composition at the music academy “ Musicescu Academy ”. After completing her studies and receiving her diploma in Chisinau she went on to the Mozarteum in Salzburg where she studied opera and oratorio and attended the art song class “Liedklasse”. Before graduating from the Mozarteum she successfully began performing internationally due to her most rare and unique talent and vocal timbre. Not only did she receive a scholarship upon auditioning for the Fondation Maria Callas which enabled her to continue perfecting her technique in the art of Belcanto, but she also received the rarely bestowed Artists Award from the Maria Callas Fondation which has provided the unique opportunity to enhance her performance by an intense work collaboration with the Belcanto Specialist Maestro Roberto Villas, focusing on mastering the vocal technique which enables outstanding command of a diverse range of styles and an unmatched ability for interpretation. Simultaneously this award provides the opportunity for a range of concerts in Germany and Switzerland as well as abroad. 2014/2015 she gave in Gasteig Munich and at the Kongresshaus Heidelberg a concert with famous baroque arias followed by a series of concerts in Zurich, Constanz / Kreuzlingen, Stuttgart, Schaffhausen, Überlingen / Lake Constanz, Frankfurt. For 2015, are several recitals and concerts with orchestra (Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra St. Petersburg) under preparation. Her concert repertoire ranges from the complete works of Bach’s Passions, Oratorios and Mass in B minor over Handel, Pergolesi, the renowned composers of the Romantic and Classical repertoire, to Sergei Rachmaninoff and Sergei Prokofieff. Her operatic repertoire contains roles by Gluck, Monteverdi, Rossini, Mozart, Verdi, Tchaikowsky, Borodin and Saint-Saens. © Ala Coroid
