Romina Boscolo is to make her début in the role of Ulrica at the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken, Germany.
Romina Boscolo is no stranger to Verdi's Dramatic Contralto roles, having recently performed the role of Mrs. Quickly alongside the great Ambrogio Maestri in the Theatro Municipal di San Paolo's acclaimed production of Falstaff. One reviewer said of her:
"But that voice! Warm, beautifully timbre, seamlessly across registers, with a deep, low contralto."
With her striking stage presence and arresting sound, Boscolo is certain to dominate the role of the witch Ulrica.
Further roles this season include: Mary in Hessisches Staatstheater's production of Der fliegende Holländer, which begins on 25th September; 1st Maid in Elektra at Teatro Comunale di Bologna; Romina Boscolo will also take on the roles of Preziosilla in La Forza del Destino, and Mrs. Quickly in Falstaff at the Hessisches Staatstheater in 2016. From the 31st October to 12th December, Contralto Romina Boscolo will perform the role of the Old Lady in Bernstein's Candide at the Hessisches Staatstheatre in Wiesbaden. She will be joined by Wolfgang Vater as Voltaire, Aaron Cawley as Candide, and Gloria Rehm as Kunigunde, with Albert Horne conducting.

This week's Aria of the Week is "Fac ut Portem" from G. B. Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. The performer is Romina Boscolo.
Today's contralto is the Italian Romina Boscolo.
Boscolo has a wonderfully dark and mellow voice. In 2002, at the age of 20, she debuted as Ramiro in Mozart's "La Finta Giardiniera" in Genova, and followed that with her first starring role as Isabella in "L'italiana in Algeri" in Turin the following year.
